Minister Of Finance Sri Mulyani Receives 'Climate Hero Award'
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati received a "Climate Hero Award" for her commitment to fighting climate change for the good of the nation's economy.
"I feel humble as a Climate Hero Award (recipient), I know very well that climate change is a challenge for mankind. So I consider that I will return this Climate Hero Award to all of you, who continue to have the passion to fight climate change every day," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani at the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit (INZS) in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Saturday, August 24.
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani received the award from the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) at the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit (INZS) as a form of appreciation in an effort to combat climate change in terms of economic impact.
The Minister of Finance expressed his gratitude for the award, and stressed that the fight against climate change is a shared responsibility for all mankind.
"In every struggle, we need a stage or milestone that makes us able to continue to maintain hope," said Sri Mulyani.
The Minister of Finance also added that climate change is an existential challenge for the world, and no individual can claim to be the only hero in fighting climate change.
The Minister of Finance reminded the importance of involving all sectors, including finance and development ministers, in global efforts.
Since being officially involved with the issue of climate change in 2007, when Indonesia hosted the 13th COP in Bali, the Minister of Finance has actively invited financial ministers around the world to participate in discussions on the economic impacts of climate change.
In front of the younger generation who attended the event, the Minister of Finance appreciated their enthusiasm and determination in fighting climate change.

He also encourages the younger generation to equip themselves with technical competence and integrity in facing this global challenge.
"The challenge of climate change is very complex and requires contributions from everyone. War on climate change requires technology, proper policies, and a passion that never goes out," said the Minister of Finance.
The Minister of Finance admitted that the award belongs to everyone who continues to fight against climate change.
"The spirit continues to fight the challenges of climate change, and hopefully all mankind can save the earth and human existence," said the Minister of Finance.
