West Papua Police Deploy 890 Personnel To Secure 2024 Pilkada
JAKARTA - The West Papua Regional Police (Polda) deployed 890 personnel involved in the Mansimam II Great Operation (OMP) to secure the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada in the province.
West Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir in Manokwari, Saturday, August 24, said the operation was held from August 27, 2024 to February 2025.
"Hundreds of Regional Police BKO personnel will be deployed to seven districts throughout West Papua, and other security locations," Johnny said, as reported by Antara.
He said as many as 890 personnel in the Mansinam II OMP were spread across Manokwari Regency as many as 210 personnel, South Manokwari 61 personnel, Bintuni Bay 80 personnel, Kaimana 61 personnel, Wondama Bay 61 personnel, Arfak Mountains 61 personnel, and Fakfak 55 personnel.
Furthermore, 30 security personnel were also placed at the KPU office, 30 personnel securing the Bawaslu office, 22 personnel securing candidates for regional heads-deputy regional heads, and 107 joint personnel for eight task forces.
"For security posts in order to maintain security and security as many as 82 personnel. All BKO Polda personnel are included in the Satbrimob," he said.
Previously, he said, the West Papua Police had carried out the Mansimam I OMP on July 20-18, 2024, involving 317 personnel and OMP II starting after the Mansimam I OMP ended.
He said the operation to secure the 2024 Pilkada still prioritizes preemptive and preventive principles supported by optimizing early detection in order to create a conducive security and social security situation.
He said the West Papua Regional Police received support from the 2024 Pilkada security grant from the local provincial government of Rp. 75 billion, and the first phase of disbursement had been disbursed of Rp. 25 billion.

Manokwari Police Rp15 billion, Teluk Bintuni Police Rp10.1 billion, Teluk Wondama Police Rp6 billion, Fakfak Police Rp5 billion, Kaimana Police Rp4.5 billion, South Manokwari Police Rp4.2 billion, and Arfak Mountains Police Rp3 billion.
"What has been disbursed in the first phase other than the Regional Police is the Manokwari Police, Teluk Wondama Police, and South Manokwari Police," said the Kapolda.
