Staff Of Erick Thohir: SOE Merger Work Waits For New Government

JAKARTA - Special Staff III of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Arya Sinulingga revealed that the merger of BUMN Karya will be carried out after the transition process of government in October 2024.

As is known, the Ministry of SOEs wants to merge 7 state-owned enterprises into 3 companies. The seven SOEs are PT Adhi Karya Tbk; PT Hutama Karya, PT Waskita Karya Tbk; PT Pembangunan Perumahan Tbk; PT Wijaya Karya Tbk; PT Brantas Abipraya; and PT Nindya Karya.

"Merger BUMN Karya is also waiting for a new government," he said when met at the Ministry of SOEs, Jakarta, Thursday, August 22.

Arya said that his party would seek to consolidate PT Hutama Karya and PT Waskita Karya Tbk (WSKT) in one holding first. Where the target is for this corporate action to be completed this year.

Later, after consolidation is carried out, PT Hutama Karya will act as the parent company and PT Waskita Karya Tbk (WSKT) as a subsidiary.

"But they are still being chased, hopefully this year. October hopefully it can be done," he explained.

Arya admits that the merger of BUMN Karya is not something that is easy to do. He said there were a number of obstacles in the process, for example calculating the value of the asset economy to the company's financial condition.

"It's not easy to merge. There are calculations. Because of this, when we do that, we have to be audited. All of them are audited," he said.

Previously, it was reported that SOE Minister Erick Thohir planned to include PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk as a subsidiary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK. The merger is targeted for completion in September this year.

The Special Staff of the Minister of SOEs, Arya Sinulingga, explained that the reason Erick Thohir made Waskita the child of the HK was so as not to fight over each other's projects.

"The simplest thing is, then they won't have a tender fight anymore," he said when met at HK Tower, East Jakarta, Tuesday, May 7.
