The Car That Did Hit-and-run In Kelapa Gading Was Not An Official Vehicle

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Jakarta Metro Police confirmed that the vehicle with police number B 2388 RFQ involved in the hit-and-run against a nine-year-old child in Kelapa Gading was not an official vehicle.

"The RF is also not necessarily an official car", said Director Jakarta Metro Police for Traffic Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo during a collision crime scene in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Friday, March 26.

Sambodo explained that it is true that RF police number plates are often used for official vehicles.

However, what must be considered is the first number of the RF plate. In general, the RF plates used by officials begin with the number 1.

"Because there are things that we will see later with a head 1 and a head 2. On average, the one in front is the number 1", he said.

Jakarta Metro Police has named a black Mercedes Benz driver with a number plate B 2388 RFQ as a suspect due to being involved in a hit and run against a nine-year-old child and his parents in Kelapa Gading on Sunday, March 21 morning.

The suspect with the initials MRK (21) finally surrendered to the police on Wednesday, March 24.

As a result of the collision, the child was seriously injured and had to be treated in the ICU. Meanwhile, the victim's parents suffered minor injuries.

"His father was lightly injured, his mother was too, but his son is still being treated seriously, in the ICU because there is bleeding in the brain", he said.

The suspect has been detained by the police to undergo legal proceedings.

After the disclosure of the case, many netizens questioned the RF number plate used by the vehicle.

Several netizens suspected that the vehicle was an official's official vehicle, but this allegation was denied by the Directorate of Traffic and Transmigration of Jakarta Metro Police.
