Minister Of Health Believes Vaccination Will Go Through 10 Million Today, Talking About The Covid-19 Vaccine Embargo Starting To Happen In The World

JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the number of recipients of COVID-19 vaccination could reach 10 million per day. He hopes that in the future, this figure can be increased later.

"Alhamdulillah and God willing, today vaccination will reach 10 million vaccinations, with our daily speed approaching 500 thousand injections per day. So it is hoped that in March and April when the availability of the vaccine is 15 million per month, we are already at the speed of injection", Budi said in a press conference broadcast online on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Friday, March 26.

Even so, Minister of Health Budi said, there were obstacles that could be faced by Indonesia in procuring vaccines. One of them is the embargo on the COVID-19 vaccine due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in various countries including India.

This, continued Budi, was conveyed to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during a limited meeting at the State Palace.

"There is a note that we also convey to the president because there has been a spike in cases in several countries, including India so that a vaccine embargo has started and could interfere with the availability of vaccines in the next few months, especially those from embargoed countries", he said.

Therefore, according to the Minister of Health, it is necessary to regulate the distribution rate of the COVID-19 vaccine. This is intended so that there is no vaccine vacuum in the middle of the current vaccination program.

"We need to be careful to regulate the injection rate of the vaccine so that there is no vaccine vacuum in the future", he concluded.
