ART Jewelry Thief Rp1 Billion Owned By Employer In Bali Arrested By Police
DENPASAR - A woman from West Java, with the initials WI (34) who worked as a Household Assistant (ART) was arrested by the South Denpasar Police, Bali, for stealing her employer's jewelry worth Rp. 1 billion.
"Officers checked and then examined witnesses and found several irregularities until the suspicion led to the perpetrator," said South Denpasar Police Chief Kompol Herson Djuanda, Wednesday, August 21.
The case of the theft of this jewelry was reported by the victim with the initials RAAW (36) who lives in Sanur Kauh Village, South Denpasar. He found his room in a mess and it turned out that his jewelry had disappeared.
The missing victim's jewelry was in the form of gold and diamonds such as 6 gold necklaces, 2 diamonds, 2 bracelets, 2 pairs of earrings, 7 gold rings and diamonds with the total loss suffered by the victim reaching Rp. 1,027,000,000.
According to the perpetrator's statement, the jewelry was sold. The money from the sale is used for daily needs, including buying a cellphone.

"The perpetrator admitted that he had taken the victim's jewelry since July 2024 and that the perpetrator could enter the victim's house and the perpetrator knew where the key to the victim's room was," he said.
Currently, the perpetrator is being held at the South Denpasar Police. Meanwhile, the police confiscated the remaining jewelry that had not been sold by the perpetrators, including Rp25 million in cash.
"The perpetrator's actions are subject to Article 362 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a threat of 5 years in prison," he said.
