Meeting Of The Pilkada Bill, The DPR Baleg Will Not Annul The Constitutional Court's Decision Regarding The Threshold
JAKARTA - The Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI held a working meeting with the government and DPD RI to discuss the Pilkada Bill. The meeting was scheduled a day after the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which changed the threshold rules for the nomination of regional heads in the Pilkada. Legislative member of the DPR Yandri Susanto denied that the DPR Baleg meeting today was to annull the Constitutional Court's decision. Baleg's meeting, he said, only wanted to clarify the rules related to the Pilkada after the Constitutional Court's decision. "We cannot incur the Constitutional Court's decision, we want to postpone it so that it is clear, there is no wild interpretation, by KPU organizers or pairs of candidates who wish to contest in the Pilkada. This is the editorial, the point of comma, the sentence per sentence we must sadur in the Pilkada Law," said Yandri at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 21. The deputy chairman of the MPR said that every Constitutional Court decision is indeed an open Prolegnas. So that the discussion does not need any proposal from the government or DPR at the plenary meeting. "When there is a Constitutional Court decision then Baleg or related commission II responds to the Constitutional Court's decision, we immediately agreed to the meeting in the law. Now yesterday we have heard the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the stages of the Pilkada in which it is concerning the requirements to be able to carry candidate pairs. Of course this is for lawmakers, government and the DPR, God willing, the time is still sufficient to make rigid and detailed rules, so that it will be a guide for the KPU to process when accepting candidate pairs register to the KPU," said Yandri.

Regarding the addition of the article, Yandri admitted that he did not know. He asked all parties to wait for the results of the Baleg meeting with the government.
"Well, this is what we just want to discuss. We will of course have discussions, both from the government and from Baleg members, there will be synchronization, we'll just have to wait. But basically we respect the Constitutional Court's decision, so we will discuss it as soon as possible today, so that the legal umbrella for the implementation of the Pilkada can be clear," said the Deputy PAN.
