Withdrawing Support From Anies, PKS Admits They Can Protest To Bully Constituents In Jakarta

JAKARTA - Secretary of the DKI Jakarta PKS Regional Advisory Council (MPW) M Taufik Zoelkifli admitted that he has now received many protests and scathing criticism from a number of his constituents.

This is because PKS revoked support for Anies Baswedan as a candidate for the Governor of DKI Jakarta. PKS has now shifted to the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus carrying Ridwan Kamil-Suswono.

"Yes, so I myself also got a lot of questions, then even bullied from grassroots who still love Pak Anies," Taufik told reporters, Wednesday, August 21.

However, Taufik admitted that he did not make bullying from constituents a problem. PKS, according to him, is only limited to carrying out its political choices.

Where, PKS wants its cadre, Sohibul Iman, to occupy the position of deputy governor candidate (cawagub). PKS had asked Anies to lobby political parties to participate in carrying him in a pair with Sohibul.

However, there are no other political parties that approve Sohibul to become the deputy governor of Anies. Meanwhile, before the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the threshold for candidacy, PKS could not carry it alone without a coalition.

"So before the Constitutional Court decided on the decision that had just been made, it was previously impossible. The 18 PKS seats could not carry Anies alone, needed another party," explained Taufik.

That's why PKS changed course by closing in to KIM Plus and getting a cawagub allotment paired with Ridwan Kamil.

"It turns out that it doesn't stop at any time where we have to decide, who should support, there is no decision from the Constitutional Court," he explained.

On Tuesday, August 20, the Constitutional Court changed the threshold for nominating regional heads in the regional elections. The Constitutional Court allowed parties not to have seats in the DPRD to participate in carrying out regional head candidates.

The Constitutional Court also reduced the nomination threshold, which previously had 20 percent seats and 25 percent of the previous legislative elections.

So, at this time Anies' opportunity is again open to being nominated in the Jakarta Pilkada and fighting the cagub-cawagub usungan KIM Plus.
