Anticipating An Increase In Food Prices, Rajawali Nusindo Intensifies Cheap Markets

JAKARTA - PT Rajawali Nusindo, a subsidiary of the Food SOE Holding company ID Food, held a cheap market titled the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) in order to maintain public food affordability, as well as to anticipate the increase in food prices.

This Cheap Food Movement was held in collaboration with the National Food Agency (Bapanas) or the National Food Agency (NFA).

Corporate Secretary of PT Rajawali Nusindo Sofyan Effendi said the GPM was held until the end of August 2024, in a number of provinces in both districts and cities throughout Indonesia.

According to Sofyab, the cheap market that is being held provides various staple food commodities such as rice, sugar, cooking oil, chilies, and shallots. This commodity is mostly the result of the production of local farmers in collaboration with Rajawali Nusindo.

As for August 2024, Rajawali Nusindo has implemented GPM in 161 locations. This activity will continue until the end of the month in 158 additional locations, bringing the total to 379 locations.

"This number is expected to continue to increase along with the intensification of cooperation between Rajawali Nusindo, ID Food, and Bapanas," said Sofyan, in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 20.

Sofyan explained that Rajawali Nusindo's participation in the GPM has been carried out in stages throughout this year.

In January, Rajawali Nusindo participated 29 times in two provinces and five districts/cities.

Then, in March it increased to 72 times in 11 provinces consisting of 12 regencies and 60 cities.

In April, this activity was carried out 42 times in 8 provinces consisting of 18 districts and 34 cities, while in May and June it was held 17 times and 1 time each.

Softyan said all products sold in GPM are priced below market prices or in accordance with the Purchase/Sales Reference Price (HAP) and the Highest Retail Price (HET) that has been set. This is in line with the main goal of GPM, which is to provide cheap food for the community.

"This proves Rajawali Nusindo's serious commitment in maintaining food price stability and meeting the basic food needs of the wider community through a low-cost market operation program. This program will continue to be carried out to make it easier for the Indonesian people to obtain basic food commodities at reasonable and quality prices," he said.

Furthermore, Sofyan also said, so that the community can use this massive and sustainable cheap market program to meet their daily food needs.

"This GPM is a very positive and good cheap market program to help people get their basic needs," he added.
