Commissioner Of Berkarya Bersama Halmahera Bernadus Matwaer And 2 Compact Witnesses Mangkir From KPK Calls

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said there were three witnesses who were compactly absent from the investigators' summons today, Monday, August 19. They should have been summoned in connection with the corruption case and money laundering (TPPU) of the former Governor of North Maluku Abdul Gani Kasuba.

"The investigator's confirmation was not present without information," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters quoted on Tuesday, August 20.

The three witnesses who should be examined were Hudawi Cadre Samual who is the Head of Wayamiga Village, East Bacan District, South Halmahera; Yuhanis Rumatora who is the Head of the Wayamiga Village Government; and Bernadus Matwaer who is the President Commissioner of PT Buli Mineralindo Utama, Commissioner of PT Buli Berlian Nusantara, Commissioner of PT Duta Halmahera Mineral; Director of PT Karya Bersama Mineral, Commissioner of Berkarya Bersama Halmahera.

As for this case, the anti-corruption commission once examined Setyo Mardanus, who also serves as President Commissioner and 50 percent shareholder at PT Berkarya Bersama Halmahera, President Commissioner at PT Duta Halmahera Lestari, Commissioner at PT Tataran Media Sarana, and Commissioner at PT Kacci Purnama Indah. He was also mentioned as close to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia or previously served as Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM based on a report from the Mining Advocacy Network (Jatam).

At that time, Setyo was said to have been present to fulfill the investigator's summons. However, the anti-corruption commission did not specify the results of the examination of him.

Previously reported, the KPK named the inactive North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba as a suspect in the alleged money laundering crime (TPPU). He is suspected of washing up to Rp100 billion. Determination of this suspect was carried out as the development of alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services project as well as granting permits within the North Maluku Provincial Government. He was detained along with five other suspects since December 20 after being caught in a hand arrest operation (OTT).

In addition, the KPK named Abdul Gani Kasuba's confidant, Muhaimin Syarif, who is the former chairman of the North Maluku Gerindra Party DPD as a suspect. He is suspected of bribing former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba in the amount of Rp7 billion for the management of the Production Operation IUP to the proposal for the determination of the mining business permit (WIUP) area to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Then this gift is also related to projects within the North Maluku Provincial Government. The bribe was given by Muhaimin Syarif directly to Abdul Gani or through aides and through banking transactions.
