Jokowi Issues Presidential Regulation For The Establishment Of A Presidential Communication Office
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2024 concerning the Presidential Communication Office. This is to realize the effectiveness of implementing the President's communication and strategic information in a synergistic and integrated manner.
Quoting Antara, the Presidential Decree explains that the Presidential Communication Office is a non-structural institution that is under and responsible to the President.
The Presidential Communication Office has the task of providing support to the President in carrying out strategic policy communication and information and priority programs for the president.
In carrying out their duties, the Presidential Communication Office carries out functions, including the implementation of the analysis of issues and actual, strategic, and political information on strategic policies and priority programs of the President.
The Presidential Communication Office also carries out the function of implementing material management and communication strategies on issues and actual, strategic, and political information on strategic policies and priority programs of the President; the implementation of information dissemination and media for strategic policy communication and priority programs of the President.
Then, the implementation of coordination and synchronization of strategic information and evaluation of communication between ministries/agencies on strategic policies and priority programs of the President; the administration of the Presidential Communication Office; and the implementation of other functions provided by the President.
The organization structure of the Presidential Communication Office consists of the head, deputy for communication and information material, deputy for dissemination and information media, deputy for coordination of information and evaluation of communications, and a presidential spokesman.

Meanwhile, in order to support the smooth implementation of the duties and functions of the Presidential Communication Office, a Presidential Communication Office Secretariat was formed which is under and responsible to the head and administratively coordinated by the minister who organizes government affairs in the field of state secretariats.
The Secretariat of the Presidential Communication Office is led by the head of the secretariat.
At the time this presidential regulation came into effect, the implementation of functions in the field of managing communication strategies within the presidential institution, as well as the management of political communication strategies and dissemination of information carried out by the Presidential Staff Office, was transferred to the duties and functions of the Presidential Communication Office.
This Presidential Decree was enacted by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on August 15, 2024 and promulgated on the same date by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno. The Presidential Decree takes effect on the promulgated date.
