79th Anniversary Of The Republic Of Indonesia: US Foreign Minister Blinken Praises President Jokowi, Expects Improvement Of Cooperation In The Prabowo Era
JAKARTA - United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, praising Washington's cooperation with Jakarta, hoping for increased relations under the new leadership, in the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
"On behalf of the United States, I congratulate the Indonesian people on your Independence Day," Foreign Minister Blinken was quoted as saying on the website of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saturday, August 17.
On this occasion, Foreign Minister Blinken praised the US-Indonesian relations that have entered 75 years, as well as the increase in relations between the two countries into strategic partnerships.
"Along with the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations between the United States and Indonesia, we remain united in the goal of advancing democracy, respecting the rule of law, and the friendship between our people," he said.
" Marking a historic new chapter in our bilateral relationship, President Jokowi and President Biden raised the US-Indonesian relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last November," said Foreign Minister Blinken.
In addition, Foreign Minister Blinken also congratulated the elected president Prabowo Subianto, hoping to work together to expand cooperation on various issues of mutual concern.
"This includes fostering peace and security in the Indo-Pacific, overcoming the climate crisis and the clean energy transition, encouraging sustainable development, upholding human rights protection, and advancing Indonesia's digital transformation," explained Foreign Minister Blinken.

Foreign Minister Blinken stressed that the United States will continue to partner with Indonesia to promote stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, both bilaterally and through engagement with ASEAN.
"On this Independence Day, we convey our best wishes to the people of Indonesia," he concluded.
