Jokowi: Community Welfare Increases, Poverty Drops To 9.03 Percent In 2024

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) claims that indicators of people's welfare during his administration continue to increase. He said this was marked by the poverty rate dropping sharply to 9.03 percent in 2024.

"The indicator of public welfare has increased significantly. The poverty rate has fallen sharply to 9.03 percent in 2024," he said in a speech delivering the 2025 RAPBN and Financial Notes, at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Friday, August 16.

"The extreme poverty rate has also dropped significantly to 0.83 percent in 2024," he added.

In addition to the poverty rate that has decreased, Jokowi also said the unemployment rate has decreased to a position of 4.8 percent in 2024.

Jokowi said the decline in the unemployment rate was in line with the addition of 21.3 million new workers in the 2015 to 2024 period.

"The unemployment rate has dropped to 4.8 percent in 2024," he explained.

In addition, Jokowi also said that Indonesia has experienced infrastructure development progress. Infrastructure development has been evenly distributed and is no longer centered on the island of Java.

"We have also felt the progress of infrastructure development that is Indonesian. Starting from toll roads and national roads, dams and irrigation, ports and airports, the construction of IKN Nusantara, and many others," he said.
