GWM Ora Becomes The Most Affordable 400 Km Electric Car
JAKARTA - The Great Wall Motor (GWM) has cut the price of Ora-model electric cars in Australia, making it the country's most affordable environmentally friendly vehicles with 400 km of affordable batteries.
Quoting from the Drive page, Thursday, August 15, the price of the GWM Ora variant of the Extend Range 2024 fell by 2,000 Australian dollars (around Rp. 20 million), so it is now selling for 36,990 Australian dollars (around Rp. 382 million). In addition, the GT Ora also received a discount of 1,000 Australian dollars (around Rp. 10 million). Meanwhile, the Ultra variant introduced in July last year has stopped its sales.
GWM attributes this price drop to the decline in raw material prices, although it is not explained in detail about this.

Previously, the price of GWM Ora first fell in early 2022, following the launch of an electric car model from MG and BYD Dolphin which is also relatively more affordable.
However, based on new car sales data in Australia from VFCTS, it is recorded that 675 GWM Ora units have been registered in the country between January to July 2024, far below 3,078 MG 4 EV units and 1,474 BYD Dolphin units.
Is this step a GWM strategy to regain market share, given that several models in the same segment recorded positive sales?
