Russia Evacuates Thousands Of More People From Borders Due To Onslaught By Ukrainian Troops

Russia has again evacuated thousands more from its border areas after Ukraine said its troops advanced further into the country by intense attack.

The biggest attack on Russia's sovereign territory since World War Two came on August 6 as thousands of Ukrainian troops broke through Russia's Western border that humiliated top Russian military officials.

Supported by drones, heavy artillery, and tanks, Ukrainian units built the world's largest nuclear power plant and fighting is underway along the 18 km (11 miles) front line within Russian territory on Thursday, August 15.

As reported by Reuters, the Acting governor of Kursk, Alexei Smirnov, said residents in the Glushkov district of 20,000 people were being evacuated.

Reportedly 200,000 people have so far been evacuated from border areas, according to Russian data.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Wednesday his troops had moved forward several kilometers further into Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry said its troops shot down Ukrainian drones in neighboring Belgorod in Russia. Meanwhile, the Sukhoi-34 bomber has hit Ukraine's position in Kursk.

Russia also reported heavy fighting along Ukraine's front lines and said its troops had taken a better position at some point.

Although the Ukrainian attack has humiliated Moscow to reveal its border defense weaknesses Russian officials say what they call Ukraine's "invasion" will not change the direction of war.
