Airbag Takata Problem, 765 Thousand Ford Cars Including GT And Mustangs Enter The Recall List

JAKARTA - Recently, Ford issued a recall order involving its previous model. It was stated that the cause of the recall was because some vehicles were still using Takata airbags.

Launching from Motor1, Thursday, August 15, the brand confirmed around 765,000 units of vehicles affected worldwide with 374,300 units from the United States (US).

This recall involved a number of passenger cars, such as Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln MKX, and Lincoln Zephyr, all of which were produced 2006-2012. Then, another affected model is Edge 2007-2010.

Not only passenger vehicles, the manufacturer's sports car nicknamed Blue Oval' such as GT output 2005-2006 and Mustang 2005-2014 were also affected by the problem.

It is known that this Takata airbag inflator can explode, causing sharp metal shards that can fly so that it can injure both passenger and driver vehicle users.

Ford advises affected vehicle owners to visit dealers in replacing airbags and installing them for free.

The airbag is the production of Takata which had rocked the automotive world because it caused the world's largest recall process a few years ago.

There were 30 deaths from this airbag with 26 of them in the US region. In 2009, this component of Takata caused hundreds of victims to be injured from a number of vehicles from various brands.

In the past decade, more than 100 million vehicles consisting of more than 20 brands of vehicles in the world equipped with Takata airbag inflators have been bulk recalled.

Due to the problems that hit the airbag, supplier Takata was declared bankrupt in 2018 and several executives were charged with the case.
