Gregoria Akan Terima Bonus Rp1,65 Miliar, Kemungkinan Meningkat

JAKARTA The women's singles badminton player, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, will receive a bonus of Rp1.65 billion because she has won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The amount of bonuses for the three Indonesian athletes who won medals at the 2024 Olympics was revealed by the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora), Dito Ariotedjo, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, WIB night, when picking up a group of athletes.

The amount of bonus that Gregoria will receive is three times smaller than the two gold medalists, each receiving Rp6 billion.

"Those who get the gold medal will receive a bonus of IDR 6 billion, while bronze is IDR 1.65 billion. The gold coach receives IDR 2.75 billion and the bronze coach is given a bonus of IDR 675 million," said Dito.

The number of bonuses received by Gregoria may still increase. That's because Dito initially miscategorized the amount that Gregoria would receive.

The figure he had announced was Gregoria's rights, which was actually worth the coaches of Olympic gold medalists.

"God willing, we will add it later because it has been wrong to mention it. From SOEs, please add it," said Dito while looking at SOE Minister Erick Thohir.

Two gold medals for Indonesia from the 2024 Olympics were contributed by weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah (class 73 kilograms) and men's speed rock climbing athlete Veddriq Leonardo.

This is the first time in Indonesian history to be able to get an Olympic gold medal from a sport other than badminton. The two gold medals also repeated success at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The achievement of two gold medals in one edition of the Olympics is still Indonesia's best record in the history of participation.
