Bali Police Asks The Public To Report Extortion Of Fuel Filling At Gas Stations
DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police asked residents who were victims of illegal levies at the Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) to immediately report it to the police and related agencies.
This was said by the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, when confirmed regarding the viral video of alleged illegal levies at a gas station in Denpasar.
The extortion incident was known to have been carried out by the private gas station operator number 54,80153 located on Jalan Pulau Komodo, Dauh Puri Kelod Village, West Denpasar District, Denpasar City on Monday (12/8).
The extortion was known to the public after a consumer recorded a complaint because an operator made a levy of Rp. 5,000 when filling up Rp. 100,000 of fuel.
The video eventually went viral on social media and gained public attention.
"The Bali Police will investigate the truth. Therefore, people who find and experience fraud make written reports to the nearest police so that they can be followed up," said Jansen, Tuesday, August 13.
Jansen explained that public reports are important so that the police have a basis for immediately conducting investigations.
"Because extortion acts are detrimental to consumers, reporting to the police is the right thing to do," he said.
Apart from the police, he said, complaints can also be made online to the Ministry of Trade.
