Pertamina Updates Underwater Pipeline Networks To Optimize Oil And Gas Production Off Java Waters
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) updated the underwater pipeline network as an effort to optimize performance while maintaining national oil and gas production off the coast of the waters north of Java.
"Subway pipe replacements are carried out on the production crucial line connecting three platforms, namely the UYA-UA and UA-UWJ pipelines in the Uniform Area and ESA-EPRO in the Echo Area," said PHE General Manager ONWJ Muzwir Wiratama in Bekasi, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, July 13.
He said the replacement of the 22.06 kilometer long pipe was targeted to be completed in the first quarter of 2025. UYA-UA and UA-UWJ pipes that have been operating since 2007 are prioritized to be replaced with new pipes while ESA-EPRO will be reactivated.
This pipeline replacement project aims to maintain oil production figures as well as investment in maintaining the advantages of facilities to support production development in the future.
Muzwir stated that this project is a manifestation of the company's long-term commitment to increasing the reliability of production facilities to support the achievement of national oil and gas targets.
This new underwater pipeline network functions to maintain smooth production and reduce potential production loss.
On the other hand, through substitution of underwater pipes, the company seeks to improve safety and environmental protection performance.

"For us, the reliability of the underwater pipeline network plays an important role, like the pulse in human blood that distributes oxygen to all organs of the body. Through this pipeline, hydrocarbons are channeled to collector stations until they end up at refineries to be processed into driving energy for the wheels of state development," he said.
He also mentioned that the new pipeline installation project is expected to be able to maintain accumulated oil production of up to 3,233 barrels of oil per day (barrels oil per day/BOPD).
"As of the first semester of 2024, PHE ONWJ recorded a production rate of 37.42 million barrels of oil per day," he said. (KR-PRA).
