Ukrainian President Zelensky: Russia Must Be Forced To Make Peace If Putin Wants To Go To War
JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday Russia should be forced to make peace if President Vladimir Putin wants to go to war, saying war would return to Russia after Moscow brought him to other countries.
Speaking in his evening address, the Ukrainian leader said Kyiv's main cross-border attack on the western region of Kursk was a security issue for Ukraine, with Kyiv having seized areas where Russia had launched attacks.
"Russia must be forced to make peace if Putin is eager to go to war," President Zelensky said.
He said the Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine, which is located across the border from the Kursk region, had been attacked nearly 2,100 times by Russia's cross-border attacks since June 1.
"Russia is bringing war elsewhere, now they will return home. Ukraine has always wanted peace, and we will definitely ensure peace," he said.
Earlier, Ukrainian troops began a major attack on the Kursk Region on August 6, quoted from TASS.
