Ratcliffe's Plan To Make A Movie From His Journey About Manchester United

JAKARTA - Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of Ineos, immediately became the subject of conversation when he bought Manchester United's minority stake in December 2023.

The British billionaire bought 27.7 percent of The Red Devils' shares which were fully completed in February 2024.

Ratcliffe doesn't just see the purchase as just a business. The 71-year-old entrepreneur has a strong bond with Manchester United.

He has been a fan of The Red Devils since childhood. Of course, being part of the legendary team in England is his dream that is now a reality.

Interestingly, Radcliffe wrote every time he traveled with Manchester United in a daily book. As the digital world developed, he kept many videos of everything about the Red Devils until he acquired the club's minority stake.

No wonder Ratcliffe has plans in the future to make a documentary that currently doesn't have a title.

One of the parts he wants to include is certainly a long process and it is difficult to get 27.7 percent of Manchester United's shares.

"It (owning a minority stake) requires tremendous patience. It was at stake for a long time."

"I think we tried and tried a lot, many different ways to make transactions with the Glazer family."

"For one reason or another (each), we have our own challenges or obstacles so that in the end we make the deal we can do," Radcliffe said at The Sun.

Luckily, Ratcliffe and the Glazer family have the same goal. Because they loved Manchester United since childhood, the owner of Ineos explained his desire to return the team to its heyday as it used to be.

That's what made the Glazer family finally accept the purchase of shares by Radcliffe and place full trust.

"In the end, in my opinion, the most important thing is to have a good relationship with the other owners, namely the Glazer family, six brothers."

"You know, they are very good people. They really love the club. The key is not a legal agreement."

"The key is that we have a common goal, which is to see Manchester United succeed. We trust each other," said Radcliffe.

Ratcliffe's goal to bring success to Manchester United has been proven since the beginning of his arrival.

He immediately washed the warehouse in the squad to make the balance sheet healthy. Releasing several players who are considered to be burdening the club's salary is the first step.

The income from the sale of players is used to buy players who have a clear projection in the future to raise the performance of the team plus have a salary that can make finances balanced.

No wonder Manchester United brought in Joshua Zirkshee and Leny Yoro. They will also welcome the duo Bayern Munich, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, after a medical examination.

Meanwhile, the new midfielder is also targeted, such as Manuel Ugarte, Sander Berge, and Youssouf Fofana.

Previously, the Red Devils had released Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Alvaro Carreras, Donny van de Beek, Omari Forson, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, and Brandon Williams.

Despite the squad's reshuffle, Ratcliffe's arrival will also bring about changes in other sectors. His investment in Manchester United includes plans to build a first-team training facility, including a new stadium to make the team better in terms of business.

Then, the management was also overhauled by Ratcliffe. And Ashworth, Omar Berrada, and Jasontama filled a number of director seats.
