OJK Reveals Indonesian Individual Investors Are Dominated By Millennials And Gen Z

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reports that Generation Z and Millennials dominate the profile of stock investors in Indonesia as much as 55.38 percent under the age of 30 with assets of IDR 50.75 trillion.

Through IDX records, investors in the Indonesian capital market until August 8, 2024 amounted to 13,433,850 Single Investor Identification (SID).

This figure is up 10.40 percent when compared to the end of 2023 which was recorded at 12,168,061.

Chief Executive of the Capital Market Supervisory of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Inarno Djajadi said that individual Indonesian capital market investors are dominated by millennials and gen z.

"Dimography of individual investors as of June 2024, we can see that its role that dominates it is 40 downstream. It has reached almost 79-80 percent. It has been dominated by 40 years and under," said Inarno at a press conference, Monday 12 August.

Inarno explained that individual investors under 30 years of age reached 55.38 percent with assets of IDR 50.75 trillion.

Then, individual investors aged 31-40 years have a portion of 24.09 percent with assets of IDR 119.13 trillion.

Furthermore, investors aged 41-50 years have a portion of 11.86 percent with assets of IDR 183.01 trillion.

Meanwhile, individual investors aged 51-60 years have a portion of 5.69 percent with assets of IDR 269.73 trillion. Meanwhile, individual investors over 60 years of age have a share of 2.98 percent with assets of IDR 887.66 trillion.

Meanwhile, the distribution of domestic investors is still dominated by the island of Java, which is 67.47 percent.

Sumatra 16.64 percent, Sulawesi 5.50 percent, Kalimantan 5.31 percent.

Bali NTB and NTT 3.77 percent. Maluku and Papua 1.31 percent.
