KAI Ensures Drinking Water At Station Passes Feasibility And Safe Test Consumption

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI ensures that the drinking water service presented by several stations has gone through a feasibility test, including water quality.

The test results showed that the drinking water presented by KAI was safe for consumption.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba said KAI provides drinking water stations at 22 stations as of July 2024.

This service comes as KAI support to reduce the use of plastic bottles to achieve net zero emissions (NZE).

Anne said KAI had collaborated with various parties such as the Coway International Indonesia and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to provide water station drinking services that had gone through various feasibility tests.

"The quality of drinking water at the drinking water station facility has met 20 of the 20 quality standard parameters tested based on testing by the Coway Water Quality Laboratory. In addition, the drinking water facility has also received a halal certificate from MUI," said Anne in an official statement, Sunday, August 11.

Anne said drinking water is needed to maintain the health of the body. Therefore, KAI is committed to not only providing drinking water, but also quality and healthy drinking water consumed by train customers.

He explained that the water quality test parameters on the drinking water station include microbiological parameters consisting of (E. Coli and Total Collideon Bacteria), and physical parameters (Suhu, Total Dissolved Solid, Kereruh, Color, and Bau).

Then, continued Anne, chemical parameters (Nitrat, Nitrit, Iron, Mangan, Arsen, Kadmium, Timbal, Fluoride, and Aluminum), as well as additional chemical parameters (Total Chromium, Copper, Seng, and Nickel).

"KAI will continue to support environmentally friendly campaigns or conservation and technology movements as an effort to improve services to train service users. This is done as one of the steps to provide the best rail transportation ecosystem for the people of Indonesia," he said.
