Unforgettable Summer Fermin Lopez With Spain

JAKARTA - Being a Euro 2024 champion and winning a gold medal in Paris 2024 Olympics will clearly not be separated from the memory of 21-year-old midfielder Fermin Lopez.

He described his summer with Spain unbeaten. Fermin was included in Spain's squad for Euro 2024 in Germany after an outstanding season with Barcelona as he scored 11 goals and one assist in 42 appearances.

He then made one appearance for Luis de la Fuente's side at Euro, who at that time won after beating England 2-1 in the final match in Berlin.

Fermin then joined Santi Denia's Olympic squad. There he became a key player with six goals and two assists, including two goals in his final match against France at the Parc des Princes, Paris, Friday.

"We had a great tournament. We deserved this and I am very proud of this team," said Fermin, quoted from AFP, and quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 10.

"Actually this summer is unbeaten. I am very proud and very happy with everything I have experienced," he added.

In the Olympic final, France had time to rise to equalize to 3-3 and force an extension of time before Sergio Camello scored two goals to ensure the second gold for Spain after 1992.

"We were in a difficult position on two separate occasions, but the team struggled very hard. I think we have a great team, a great family and you can see it on the pitch," Lopez said.

"European and Olympic champions are the first two titles I won and I am very happy," he added.

Barcelona will start their season next weekend against Valencia on Sunday (18/8) at 02.30 WIB. But after serving more than two months on international duty, Fermin admitted that he needed a break.

"I've always wanted to play, but a week off won't hurt anyone. But just a week, then I'll come back," he concluded.
