Chery Omoda E5 Listed In Thailand, Names Changed And Prices Cheaper Than Indonesia

JAKARTA - The successful Chery electric car in Indonesia, namely Omoda E5, has also launched in Thailand, and in that country its name has changed, namely C5 EV.

Quoting from the Paultan page, Friday, August 9, this electric car comes with two variants ranging from Long Range Plus which is priced at 899,000 baths or around Rp405 million, and Long Range Ultimate for 949,000 baht or Rp428 million.

When compared to the price in Indonesia, of course, it is cheaper. In the country, PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) sells this one car starting at a price of IDR 419 million for the Omoda E5 Pure model, while for Omoda E5 the most expensive touched the figure of IDR 488.8 million.

"Our entry into Thailand aims to lift the country's automotive industry to world-class standards and offer consumers here another perfect choice," said Vice President of Chery International Chen Chunqing in a ceremony.

There is only one powertrain offered by this electric car, and has an electric motor installed in front with 204 PS (150 kW) power and a 340 Nm torque, capable of driving this SUV from 0-100 km/hour in the claimed time of 7.2 seconds.

The highest speed is 172 km/h, besides that the battery is the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) 61 kWh which is sourced from BYD, capable of traveling 430 km in the WLTP cycle. The power consumption is claimed to be 15.5 kWh per 100 km. Overall, it is identical to those in the country.

For charging, C5 has a three-phase onboard air conditioner with a maximum speed of 9.9 kW, as well as a DC fast charging of up to 80 kW; the latter is capable of charging the battery from 30 to 80 percent in 28 minutes.

There is also a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function that allows cars to power up to 3.3 kW to power equipment and electrical devices, useful for outdoor activity or power outages.
