Proud Of Mrs. RI To Win 2 Gold At The Paris Olympics, Appreciation Of Rizki Juniansyah's Record
JAKARTA - Indonesia has again gained achievements with 2 gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the near future. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expressed his pride in the achievements of the two sons of the nation.
"Twice Indonesia Raya reverberated on the same day! Who are we? INDONESIAAA!" said Puan as quoted from her Instagram account, @puanmaharaniri, Friday 9 August.
As is known, Veddriq in the final round managed to beat Chinese athlete Wu Peng with only a time difference of 0.02 seconds on Thursday (8/8) afternoon WIB. Veddriq managed to win with a time of 4.75 seconds.
No less charming, Rizki Juniansyah also looked amazing. Especially when Rizki managed to record a total lift of 354 kg with details of 155 kg of snatch and 199 kg of clean and jerk on Friday morning Indonesian time.
"The gold medal presented by Rizki Juniansyah is in the record for the 73 kg weightlifting Olympics. Thank you Rizki!" said the first woman who served as Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

Rizki is known to beat the clean and jerk record held by China lifter Shi Zhiyong previously with a clean and jerk lift of 198 kg at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
A new record was also set by Veddriq in the previous round when he eliminated Bassa Mawem from France, the owner of the previous record at the Tokyo Olympics with 5.45 seconds. Veddriq was able to beat Mawem with a time of 4.88 seconds.
"Getting Veddriq Leonardo and Rizki Juniansyah records proves that Indonesia has many quality athletes," said Puan.
The 2018 Asian Games Supervisory Board assessed that the achievements of rock climbing and weightlifting athletes are also proof that Indonesia is not only superior in badminton sports. Puan believes there is a lot of potential from other sports.
"This is also an encouragement that sports other than badminton are able to bring Indonesia ahead in the international sport," said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
Puan hopes that in the remaining matches, Indonesia can win a medal again. Indonesia still has the opportunity to add medals, namely from the Women's Weightlifting category. The remaining Indonesian athletes are expected, namely Nurul Akmal, who is scheduled to appear on Sunday (11/8).
"Hopefully Indonesia can make a new history by bringing more than 2 gold medals from the Olympics. Indonesia can!" said Puan.
Throughout his participation in the Olympics, Indonesia has collected 10 gold. Eight of them were obtained from the badminton sport where at the 1992 Olympics, Indonesia won 2 gold as well as thanks to the achievements of Alan Budikusuma's men's singles and Susy Susanti's women's singles.
Although the badminton sport that is Indonesia's hope has not succeeded in getting gold, Puan assesses that the athletes have given the best results, especially Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, who won a bronze medal for the women's singles number.
"Thank you to all the athletes who have fought, including Gregoria Mariska Tunjung who has also donated the first medal for Indonesia at the 2024 Paris Olympics. All athletes have given their best performances," he said.
"Once again, thank you to all athletes at the Indonesian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics, including coaches and official teams as well as other support teams who have worked hard to make Indonesia proud," continued Puan.
Bung Karno's grandson also considered that the support from the Indonesian people participated in the achievements of the Indonesian contingent at the Paris Olympics. Puan also thanked Indonesian supporters who provided direct support at the event location.
"Support and prayers from the Indonesian people have added to the spirit of the Garuda Team at the Paris Olympics. This is a joint victory, an Indonesian victory that we must celebrate," he explained.
Puan again encouraged the Government to continue to support the progress of Indonesian sports through coaching and various facilities and programs. He reminded the Government not to forget to give rewards to athletes who have brought home victory at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
"I give high appreciation to all Indonesian contingents at the Paris Olympics. In particular, I am grateful for the achievements of the athletes who have won medals. Continue to move forward in the world of Indonesian sports," concluded Puan.
