X Agrees Not To Use EU User Data While Training AI

JAKARTA Platform X, formerly known as Twitter, said it would not use X users' personal data in the European Union (EU) to train its Artificial Intelligence (AI). This statement was made in the Irish court on Thursday, August 8. X confirmed that they would use users' personal data if they agreed that the data was used to train AI and did not draw their approval. Prior to this statement, the Irish Data Protection Commission wanted to limit X's ability to use user data in the EU. The commission submitted an order to the court to suspend the use of the data. The order was approved by the court. Judge Leonie Reynolds, quoted by Reuters, also said that X had started processing EU user data collected on May 7. In fact, the feature of choice to reject the use of new data was released on July 16. In addition to being late a month, the feature to reject the use of this data was also not widely launched. Many X users in the EU have not seen this feature. Therefore, the permission to use EU user data to train AI is being suspended.

X agrees with the court's decision. Delivered by one of the lawyers X, the company will not use EU user personal data collected from May 7 to August 1. This action will be stopped until an Irish Data Protection Commission order is processed and decided by the court. If the verdict has not been made until September 4, attorney X will file an objection letter against the suspension order.
