DLH Lampung: Medical Device Withdrawal Limits With A Mercury 31 December 2025
LAMPUNG - The Environment Agency (DLH) of Lampung Province stated that the limit for the withdrawal of medical devices (alkes) in QUESTION will be carried out until December 31, 2025."If there is no withdrawal after the deadline, it will be categorized as hazardous and toxic waste (B3). Of course this will cause problems if it is not implemented properly," said Head of DLH Lampung Province Emilia Kusumawati in a statement received in Bandarlampung, Antara, Friday, August 9.All medical devices containing mercury in Lampung Province have been secured."This democratic medical device withdrawal activity is a form of support for Presidential Regulation Number 21 of 2019 concerning the National Action Plan for the Reduction and Elimination of Mercury," he said.The number of Mercury medical devices that have been withdrawn in 15 districts and cities in Lampung Province is 267 units for secondary packaging. Then 3,265 units of sphygmomanometers, 687 units of thermometers with a total secondary packaging weight of 3,340.4 kilograms and ready to be sent to Jakarta."The province of Lampung is designated as one of the depot centers for collecting government-based medical devices for the Sumatra region, then all the Mercury medical devices will be sent to Jakarta," he said.According to him, the success in collecting government-based medical devices in Lampung was due to the coordination established with the Health Office in 15 districts and cities in the province.
"This Mercury is a dangerous and toxic ingredient. Currently, mercury is still in medical devices and has not been damaged and broken, it is still categorized as B3, but if it breaks it will become B3 waste. So everything has been collected for further treatment as an effort to eradicate mercury in medical devices," he said.
