Exclusive Della Dartyan Rediscovers Her Lost Self Through Acting

JAKARTA - Della Dartyan is trusted to be the main player in the latest horror film produced by Rapi Films and directed by Sidharta Tata entitled Sakaratul Maut. In this film Della plays Wati who has a firm and outspoken character regarding the feelings she feels.

However, Della explained that Wati's reason for having such an attitude was not without reason. The background of Wati's hard life, who experienced an incident of pregnancy outside of marriage, had an unemployed husband and had to struggle to pay off debts, became the biggest reason Wati's tough attitude.

"It's hard, it's difficult because first you have to use Javanese, right. And the Javanese language is really stuck in Javanese, right. It's been like that here, Wati is really a lot, she's angry. If you're angry, it means that her speech is fast. And sometimes there's a sentence that she absorbs. She's angry with tek Tek. And using Javanese. It's hard," said Della Dartyan to the VOI office in the Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta, last Wednesday, July 3.

"But it's fun too, right. It means it's just like challenging. Something new. It's not new, actually, but it's interesting. And it just so happens that my mother is from Jogja. It's quite easy for me to actually speak Javanese," he added.

Apart from having to play a tough character towards the situation, Della also has to play the role of Indah Permatasari's older brother who plays Retno. Della, who is a single child in her original life, claims to have a sister in this film is like a dream come true.

"Actually, research is more about talking. Well, because I'm an only child, so I've always wanted to have a younger brother from a long time ago. So that's more like that. And I see Indah, Indah, the person is very open. So it comes from there to unite strong chemistry between us as brothers and sisters," said Della Dartyan.

One of the scenes that will always be embedded in Della's memory during the shooting process is the moment she and Tarjo played by Aksara Dena where she had to slap the figure of Tarjo for fighting over the inheritance of Mr. Wiryo alias their own father who was on the verge of death.

Della still remembers how the scene was only taken in one shooting and everyone was amazed by the acting shown by the two of them. Even after playing the scene, Della had to be calmed down by Indah because of her acting that was really released as much as possible.

"Well, that's the one who is the most challenging to fight with Tarjo. And there's a scene I hit him again. It's really like, with Tarjo too, well that's it, I really remember it's a scene in the market. And everyone, it's the scene, everyone sees us fighting," said Della.

"As far as I remember it was one take okay. And when the scene happened, Everyone applauded from one market like that. It was so much like, then the two of us were like, I went straight back, before the Tarjo left. I'm still like, I've been calmed down by Retno, right. I'm still like Ms.

Della Dartyan admits that she is lucky because she can run a profession that is of interest, namely in the world of acting so that she feels it is easier to live her profession as an actor. Furthermore, Della also feels that being an actor makes her learn as a new character that is entrusted to her.

"When I talk about professions, I honestly am very lucky, because I can be involved in the film industry. And the term works according to passion. There are people who have a passion for A, but he has to work at B, it's even a term that he is stressed himself. And because of my love for my passion, it makes it easier for me to work even better, "said Della Dartyan.

"And it's interesting in the film industry, when we enter another project, it's like an empty thread again, like an empty canvas, right. We're learning again. It's like a new character again. So talking about being bored isn't it. Because we're learning all the time. Learn again and again. Whether it's a new genre, I don't know it's a new character. As long as we choose the smart one," he continued.

Even so, that doesn't mean that this 34-year-old woman's acting career always runs smoothly. He told me there was a moment where he almost lost his identity as Della Dartyan when he played Arini's role in the film Love for Sale for almost 4 years.

"It's been a long time, and it's happened for years. Love For Sale. Because it was a film too, at that time, there was Love For Sale 2, there was Arini by Love For Inc. So it's like, a few years huh? From, 2017, starting filming, it's four years. It's about four years. Actually not taken, like, but I can give him up at any time, that's it. Throw away Arini's figure, call," added Della Dartyan.

It was not an easy matter for Della Dartyan to try to return her identity after playing in her debut film. However, fortunately, with the help of those closest to her who reminded her who Della Dartyan was with her favorite activities, she finally managed to get out of the black hole.

"Maybe because of Love For Sale, right, the first film. So, at that time I might find it a bit difficult to come back and still be confused, how to enter, what is the way to go? And finally, starting to look for it, and when it was assisted by his wife Bang Ucup, Bang Ucup was the director of Love Yourself, because I really like it, wall climbing, so I was invited by Bang Ucup to, "Let's try wall climbing," because after we filmed Love For Sale, for about a month, "said Della Dartyan.

"I'm still stuck, I still can't, (studdenly) it's weird, how do you feel, sad, feeling like, Oh, how come you've finished filming?' It's like that, things like that, 'How is this, how is this?' Finally, 'Let's try it. Let's try wall climbing in, Purwakarta, in Citatah', right. We wall climbing there, and after wall climbing, 'oh, it turns out, I just need to remind myself again who Della is actually', that's it. So, that's how it is," he said.

Since that incident, Della has become more talked about with many figures, from acting coaches to senior actors, to be able to overcome this incident and not lose their identity again.

"After that, it turns out that you have experience, 'Oh, how do you do it, get this out? How do you get in, get out?'. Talk a lot with acting coaches, like Om Yayu, like Bang Aji, like Mas Rukman Rosadi, for how, the entrance and exit as us are actors. Finally, with a lot of lessons and finally it can be done, "concluded Della Dartyan.
