Morocco Wins 2024 Olympic Bronze After Beating Egypt 6-0

JAKARTA - Morocco won the bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics. In the race for third place at the Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes, France, Thursday, August 8, 2024 evening WIB, Morocco beat Egypt 6-0

Morocco showed its best performance in the bronze medal race. They also made history because this is the first time Morocco won a medal in football at the Olympics.

Previously, Morocco was only able to survive in the group stage. Even in the 2016 and 2020 events, Morocco, who defeated Argentina 2-1 in the first match, did not qualify for the Olympics. The achievement of the Morocco U-23 national team was no less classy than the senior team which reached the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup.

In the duel of fellow African teams, Morocco and Egypt, the best squad was deployed. Moroko himself is still strengthened by senior player Achraf Hakimi who occupies the right-back. Hakimi himself brought Morocco for the first time to reach the semifinals of the World Cup. They finally finished by finishing fourth.

In the match against Egypt, The Atlas Lions showed their dominance. They controlled the game and pressed Egypt's defense. Morocco did not take long to break into Egypt's goal. However, they had to wait until the 23rd minute when winger Abdessamad 'Abde' Ezzalzouli successfully scored a goal for Morocco. He finished the assist from Zakaria El Ouahdi.

Only three minutes later, Morocco was able to add goals. This time Ezzalzouli took part in Morocco's second goal process.

The Real Betis player's mature pass was completed by Soufiane Rahimi, who changed the score to 2-0. There were no additional goals until the first 45 minutes were over. The score of two goals for Morocco lasted until halftime.

In the second half, Morocco became more aggressive in attacking Egypt's defense. On the other hand, Egypt could only survive the corrugation of the opposing team.

In the 51st minute, midfielder Bilal El Khannous solidified Morocco's lead to 3-0. El Khannous' goal made the morale of The Praohs' players immediately collapse. They also find it increasingly difficult to catch a deficit of three goals.

The situation got worse for Egypt after Rahimi scored his second goal in the match in the 64th minute. It started with Ilias Akhomach's assist which was then completed well by Rahimi.

Morocco did not lower the tempo of the game after winning 4-0. As a result, they added another goal. In the 73rd minute, it was Akram Nakach's turn to conquer goalkeeper Hamza Alaa.

Hakimi finally completed Morocco's victory. The Paris Saint-Germain star managed to break into Egypt's goal in the 87th minute.

The score changed to 6-0 for Morocco. The advantage lasted until the end of the match. Morocco also made history in football after winning bronze.
