Veddriq After Winning The 2024 Olympic Gold Medal: This Is The Indonesian Anniversary Gift
JAKARTA Veddriq Leonardo presented the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the celebration of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
The rock climbing athlete from Pontianak won gold after being the best in the men's speed number beating China's representative, Wu Peng, in the final, Thursday, August 8, 2024, evening WIB.
"This gold medal is a blessing and this is also hard work, effort, dedication of all coaching teams, athletes, family friends who have provided prayers and support. This is also a gift for Indonesia on its 79th birthday," said Veddriq.

The success in Paris made Veddriq make history as the first gold medalist for Indonesia from other sports outside badminton.
It is also the first gold medal since the number speed was competed individually in Olympic history. Previously in Tokyo, the lead border and speed were still combined.
"This sport is new, but given the trust and can be proven by winning gold. Grateful for this achievement and I am also proud of this achievement," said Veddriq.
This is Indonesia's second medal from the 2024 Paris Olympics. One bronze medal was previously secured by the women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal from the men's speed number was won by Samuel Watson (United States). He climbed the third podium after defeating Reza Ali Pour (Iran).
