Menpora Sorry Indonesia's Achievements Dropped At The 2024 Paris Olympics
JAKARTA - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo apologized for the failure of Indonesia's achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Indonesia has so far only won one bronze medal and one gold medal through women's singles badminton player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Veddriq Leonardo (rocket climbing).
The newly obtained gold medal made Indonesia's position in the standings ranked 46th.
However, this is not enough to make the Indonesian contingent said to be slick. You see, a number of targets missed.
"As the Minister of Youth and Sports, I take full responsibility and apologize to the people of Indonesia because the temporary acquisition (medal) obtained at the Olympics did not meet expectations and expectations," Dito wrote in the Instagram Story feature.

The bronze obtained by Gregoria did not at least repeat badminton dreams at the 2012 London Olympics. At that time, this sport did not bring home a medal at all.
Dito said that the results at the 2024 Olympics really did not match the preparations that had been made so far.
"We can ensure that the athletes' preparations are supported as much as possible until they can become Olympics, the highest stage for sportsmen in the world," he said.
In addition to badminton, which is Indonesia's hope for a medal, is also in the women's rock climbing speed number. However, all of these three money numbers failed.
The two athletes who took part in this number, namely Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Rajiah Sallsabillah, were eliminated in the quarter-finals and the bronze race.
The hope in weightlifting from Eko Yuli Irawan in the 61 kilograms was also dashed. This result could not be separated from the athlete's injury which recurred during a clean and jerk lift on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, WIB night.
"Besides that, I as Menpora are also very proud of the achievements of young Olympics which can certainly be an inspiration for young people in all fields to get contestation on the world stage," said Dito.
Luckily, Veddriq Leonardo managed to break Indonesia's eggs to win a gold medal. He defeated Chinese athlete, Wu Peng, in the final on Thursday, August 8, 2024, evening WIB.
That means, currently Indonesia only has three athletes left. They are Rizki Juniansyah (men's 73 kg ironlifting), Bernard van Aert (men's omnium number bicycle race), and Nurul Akmal (women's +81 kg ironlifting).
If the three athletes above also fail, Indonesia will return with only two medals.
At least, the record is still better than bad memories at the 1988 Olympics when Indonesia only brought home one silver medal from the team archery.
