AGI Chairman: National Game Successfully Reaches International Market

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Game Association (AGI) Cipto Adiguno said a number of games from Indonesia have been able to walk in international markets covering the European Union to the United States.

"A number of Indonesian games are successful internationally, especially in coal markets such as the United States and Europe," said Cipto as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 8.

However, his party also noted a potential market in the eastern region, namely, China.

He admitted that the game from Indonesia began to be loved by the global market.

"So it's enough for the country's children to like our games and wait or even enthusiastically look for new Indonesian-made games," he said.

The genre or flow of Indonesian games that are in great demand by foreign markets includes the horror, relaxation, and visual novel genres.

According to him, games with relaxation and horror genres are Indonesian games that are known to gain success.

However, his party also acknowledged that there were several challenges in competing with foreign game developers, namely issues related to funding.

However, through government support through promotions and publications, he believes that he can make investors or potential partners able to show interest in establishing cooperation.

As for today, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is launching and celebrating the 2024 Indonesian Game Day today as a form of realization of the acceleration of the development of the national game industry.

Today is one of the milestones of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 19 of 2024 concerning the Acceleration of National Game Industry Development. Today is celebrated as Indonesia's Game Day which was proposed by friends of the game association at that time," said Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Prouk of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Muhammad Neil El Himam.

The launch of Indonesia's Game Day, he continued, is one of the achievements to develop and strengthen the national game industry, which until now has recorded that Indonesia has eight local games that will be promoted in the future.
