NAGAN RAYA - The Nagan Raya Regency Government of Aceh Province uses a number of water pump machines to overcome drought due to drought which causes tens of hectares of rice fields in the area to lack water."Thank God, with a water pump, the water needs in the community rice fields have now been met," said Head of the Agriculture and Livestock Service of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, drh Safridhal to ANTARA in Nagan Raya, Thursday.The target for deploying the pumping, he said, includes Blang Baro Village, Seunagan District, Nagan Raya Regency because the village has a rice field area of 60 ha.In addition, the local government has also deployed water pumping to meet water needs in rice fields owned by the community in Blang Geudong Village, East Seunagan District, Nagan Raya Regency.Safridhal admitted that with the water pump machines deployed in the two villages, currently tens of hectares of rice fields owned by the community in the two different sub-districts have been supplied with water.This condition is also added by starting to rain, so that it supports the availability of water in farmers' fields, so that people in Nagan Raya are no longer lack of water to plant rice."“ With enough water available to be added with the rain starting to fall, we hope that the planting pattern in the gadu season this time will not be disrupted," added Safridhal.Previously, at the end of March 2024, the Nagan Raya Regency Government of Aceh Province distributed water pump assistance to farmers in their area, who came from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024.Until now, the raw land area of rice fields (LBS) in Nagan Raya Regency has reached 5,849.04 hectares (ha).With this pumping, he said, it is hoped that it can increase the rice planting index (IP) from once to twice or even three times a year.
This water pump assistance will be distributed to 41 farmer groups spread across a number of sub-districts in Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh which has an IP 100 with a land area target of 663 ha.
