KY Make Sure To Summon The Surabaya District Court Judge Regarding Ronald Tannur's Free Verdict

The Judicial Commission has confirmed to summon the panel of judges at the Surabaya District Court (PN), East Java, who sentenced the defendant Gregorius Ronald Tannur in the murder case of Dini Sera Afrianti.

"KY confirmed that he would summon the panel of judges at the Surabaya District Court for questioning regarding the verdict against the defendant Ronald Tannur. KY also hopes that the panel of judges can attend to meet the KY court," said KY spokesman Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 7.

The summons to the panel of judges, said Mukti, was actually the right to be responsible for the alleged violation of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH) reported by the victim's family.

"So, if the judge is present, it is his right to provide further information, clarification, and confirmation. However, if the judge is not present, the process will continue without a defense or explanation from the panel of judges," said the member of the KY.

Mukti explained that the examination of the panel of judges was the final stage of the investigation and handling of the report. Before examining the panel of judges reported, KY will examine the Dini Sera family as the reporter and witnesses and related parties.

"The schedule for the examination is as soon as possible. For this reporter, within one or two days, and will be continued with the examination of related parties and so on to the panel of judges. God willing, all of these examinations will be carried out this August," he said.

Mukti said KY coordinated with law enforcers such as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the AGO to increase information and facilitate data deepening in law enforcement in the case.

Previously, on Monday (29/7), KY received a report on alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH) of the Surabaya District Court judges who acquitted Ronald Tannur in the murder case of Dini Sera Afrianti.

"The report was received by the Deputy Chairperson of KY and the Head of the KY Bureau of Investigation. The report will be followed up in accordance with the provisions in KY Regulation Number 2 of 2015 concerning the Handling of Public Reports," said Mukti.

The report was filed by Dini Sera's family, namely her father and sister who were accompanied by Dimas Yemahaburah's attorney.

The victim believed there was a contradiction between the indictment and the demands and the results of the panel of judges' considerations. Therefore, the victim's family wanted KY to examine alleged violations of the KEPPH and submit a recommendation for dismissal of the three judges who decided the case.

"We ask that KY can provide the best recommendation, namely our hope is the termination of the judge who examined this case at the Surabaya District Court. That is our hope," said Dimas Yemahaburu.
