Danrem Wirasakti Ready To Build Joni To Escape TNI

KUPANG - Commander of Korem 161/Wirasakti Kupang Brigadier General (Brigjen) Joao Xavier Barreto Nunes stated that he was ready to nurture Yohanes Ande Kalla or Joni, who was famous for his red and white flag, so he could pass the selection to become a TNI soldier.

"I will build him, I will prepare him later then we ask him, where do he want the test, we have the NCO, there is the Tamtama and there is the Military, so if we want the Military Officer, we will direct him to Atambua Defense University, we will direct him later," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 7.

This was conveyed by him when he met Yohanes Ande Kalla or what Joni called at Makorem 161/Wirasakti Kupang, after being declared not to have passed the selection to enter the Indonesian Army because of his height.

Danrem explained that Joni basically wanted to become a TNI AD soldier, but unfortunately after he was famous, no one had fostered him from an early age to prepare himself to become a TNI soldier.

Danrem admitted that he had just met Joni in March 2024.

At that time, Danrem had advised Joni that if he wanted to become a TNI soldier, he had to prepare himself from a long time ago.

According to him, over the past 1.5 months, Dandim Belu has tried to help and educate Joni, but the results have not been significant.

"Indeed, yesterday the problem was at a height, Joni was only 155.8 meters high, while there were also 162.9 meters high but did not pass either, even though the condition was 163 meters, yes, we still stick to the existing conditions," he said.

If when the NCO test does not pass due to height, then Joni will be prepared to take a test at the defense university through a special route for vocational tests or expertise at the end of August 2024.

According to Danrem, to become a soldier no longer needs to be on the battlefield, but in other fields, like other parts of the vocation.

Danrem said that in terms of physical matters, Joni will be given special therapy so that he can increase his height in several centimeters so that later he can qualify for the TNI.

"There is therapy that will be given, I have asked questions and can be used to increase height, later we will apply it to Joni," he said.

Meanwhile, Joni admitted that he would prepare to take the next TNI entrance test at the Defense University later, because he admitted that the important thing was being able to become a soldier.

"I am the important thing to be a soldier, later I will prepare myself better, in preparation for the entrance test later," he said.
