Wednesday Morning, Jokowi Leaves For Central Java To Inaugurate The World's Second Largest Lithium Battery Factory
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left for Central Java Province (Central Java) on Wednesday 7 August to inaugurate the lithium battery anode material factory in the Kendal Special Economic Zone (KEK). If it is in full capacity, this factory will be the second largest in the world with a production of 160,000 tons.
Reporting from ANTARA, the Press, Media and Information Bureau (BPMI) of the Presidential Secretariat informed Jokowi and his entourage to depart from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta.
The head of state and entourage took off using the Indonesian presidential plane-1 at around 07.30 WIB. The President and his entourage are expected to arrive at the Ahmad Yani Army Main Base, Semarang, Central Java, at around 08.20 WIB.
From Semarang, the President and his entourage continued their journey to Kendal Regency by car.
"The president will go to the SEZ in Kendal Regency to inaugurate the lithium battery anode factory PT Indonesia BTR New Energy Material," said Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of Presidential Secretariat M Yusuf Permana.
He said the investment value for phase I has been realized in the amount of US$ 478 million with a production capacity of 80,000 tons of battery anode material per year.
BTR has completed the first phase factory in the Kendal SEZ within 10 months and is currently the largest anode factory in the world.
After phase I and II are completed, Indonesia is expected to become the producer of the second largest lithium ion battery anode material in the world with a production of 160,000 tons.
After the inauguration, the President will leave for Jakarta via the Ahmad Yani Army Main Base, Semarang.
