The Temu Application Has Not Operated In Indonesia Even Though It Has Repeatedly Registered Business Permits, What's The Reason?
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) said that the application from China, namely Temu, had tried to enter Indonesia three times.
Special Staff to the Minister for Creative Economy Empowerment, Fiki Satari, said the application had registered trademarks with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).
However, Temu registration experienced problems because there was already a business using the name.
Fiki said that the e-commerce platform continues to appeal to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
"So, since September 7, (2022) the meeting has been three times, yes, trying to register the brand. However, it just so happens that someone in Indonesia already owns and registers first. However, this continues to be compared," said Fiki in a media discussion at the Kemenkop UKM office, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 6.
Fiki hopes that the government will be serious in preventing the entry of the Temu application into Indonesia. This, he said, is to protect MSMEs in the country.
"But once again the fact that they wanted to enter from two years ago friends. So, this attack is actually real, potential is related to the Meeting," he said.
On the same occasion, President Director of Smesco Indonesia Wientor Rah Mada assessed that the presence of the application risks weakening MSMEs.
The reason is, on the platform, goods are directly imported from factories without sellers, resellers, dropshippers and affiliates.
"So, there is no tiered commission like the other e-commerce commissions. Not to mention the subsidies provided by this platform," he said.

"Then they give a 90 percent discount, that's what almost every country does," he continued.
The Temu application is an e-commerce platform from China that offers various products ranging from fashion, electronics to household needs. In this application, people can buy various products at very affordable prices.
Temu applies a direct-to-consumer (D2C) business model, which allows manufacturers to sell directly to consumers without intermediaries. Thus, this Temu application allows users to shop online with easy and efficient experiences.
