Lineup From 14 Countries To Appear At The AXEAN Festival In Bali

JAKARTA - After two events in Singapore (2022 and 2023), this year's AXEAN Festival will be held in Bali. This event will last for two days at the Jimbaran Hub, Badung on September 28 and 29.

Piyapong Muenprasertdee as one of the founders and leaders of the AXEAN Festival team said this event was intended so that musicians and music groups from Southeast Asia could expand their relationship with the outside world.

"It is always our vision to make AXEAN a regional-scale festival, change the host country every year, or even have smaller editions in different countries," said Piyapong Muenprasertdee during a press conference in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 6.

The reason comes from our observation that most Southeast Asian music markets are very domestic, or only accept western or k-pop artists when talking about international artists. Thus, if we can help domestic artists cross borders in the region, there will be more opportunities for them to develop an international fan base."

With this vision, it is not surprising that the first phase lineup that has been announced is dominated by music groups from Southeast Asian countries. So far, more than 40 performers from 14 countries have certainly joined.

Five Indonesian performers are Batavia Collective, Dialogue Early Days, Scandal, Grrrl Gang, lightcraft, Scandal, and Milledenials. Meanwhile, from Singapore there are Josh Makazo, Linying, Rangga Jones, and San & The Workshop.

Furthermore, from Thailand there are Common People Like You, Gabe Watkins, LUST, mindfreakkk, and VVAS. Meanwhile, from the Philippines there are birds., crop, Makak, Munimuni, and Muri.

Other countries that contributed quite a lot of performers were Cambodia with M-Fatt, Norith & Badminton Hai, RuthKo, and Vanthan.

Meanwhile, other musicians who also attended were At Adau (Malaysia), COTERIE (Australia), Funkindustry (France), HARIKUYAMAKU (Japan), Imdifficult (Taiwan), Puman (Chingkok), The Dinosaurs's Skin (Taiwan), The Hertz (Hong Kong), Tuimi (Vietnam), and Uudee's Swashbuckling Dandies (Mongolia).

The selection of Bali as the location for the AXEAN Festival also has careful consideration. As a world tourist destination, Bali is considered the right place to invite many music actors from all over the world to come.

"After two years in Singapore, we felt it was the right time to try a new place, and Bali as a tropical paradise with the development of the music scene. We think this is the perfect location for artists, delegates and music lovers," concluded Pulupong Muenprasertdee.
