Good News! Autonomous Trem Ready To Be Tested Dynamically At IKN On August 10

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) said that the Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) is ready to start dynamical testing on short routes in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.

Director General of Railways, Risal Wasal, said that the DJKA ranks are currently conducting internal testing on ART facilities, infrastructure, and human resources (HR).

Furthermore, Risal said that this internal testing is expected to be completed no later than Friday, August 9, 2024.

"If it goes well, we target that ART can be tested dynamically (moving) on the short route (smallloop) on August 10, 2024," said Risal in an official statement, Tuesday, August 6.

Risal explained that the short route or small loop in question is a circular trial route from the Coordinating Ministry 3 Building to the Coordinating Ministry 2 Building and back to the Coordinating Ministry 3 Building in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

Furthermore, Risal explained that this trial was carried out in order to prepare for the operation of the ART at the 79th Independence Day (HUT) ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024 at IKN.

The trial phase was carried out for approximately two months, since the dynamical trial. Testing is intended to better know the feasibility of ART operations," he explained.

Risal said the next stage was an evaluation with DJKA with the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN) before it was exhibited (showcase) for the public from October 10 to December 31, 2024.

"Later on, ART will stop at eight stops along the main sections of the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) IKN, and integrated with other modes of transportation, namely the rapid transit bus (BRT)," said Risal.
