4 Residents Died As A Result Of Flash Floods In Dogiyai Regency

JAKARTA Four residents died due to flash floods that hit the Dogiyai Regency area, Central Papua Province. The flood incident was triggered by high-intensity rain for several days that hit the Dogiyai Regency area, on Friday, August 4 yesterday. "This flash flood caused two villages, namely Kampung Bukapa and Kampung Putapa which are in the administrative area of Kamu District, Dogiyai Regency to be affected," said Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari, in his statement, Tuesday, August 6. Based on a report received by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on Monday 5 August at 19.00 WIB, four residents died, one resident was slightly injured and one resident was reported missing. Meanwhile, material losses recorded among others were damage to one unit of educational facilities.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Dogiyai Regency reported that the latest situation at the scene was still raining with moderate to high intensity. The joint SAR team and the local community are still searching for residents who were reported missing. The evacuation process, the search and rescue of victims was hampered by bad weather conditions and difficulty accessing the road to the scene.
