Densus 88 Calls The HOK Terrorist Suspect In Batu Jattim Arrested When Disposing Of Explosives

JAKARTA - Densus 88 anti-terror said HOK (19) was named a terrorism suspect. The arrests were made when the young man threw away evidence in the form of explosives.

HOK is known to have been arrested in Batu, Malang, East Java, on Thursday, August 1.

"At the time of his arrest, the person concerned was in the activity to dispose of several materials or evidence," said Densus 88 Anti-terror Spokesperson Kombes Aswin Siregar to reporters, Monday, August 5.

It was not detailed what evidence was disposed of by the suspect at that time. However, based on the confiscation data, there were several explosives such as TATP (Triaceton Triperoxide) which had a high explosive power.

"What after we investigated the items that were thrown away were some of the items that were previously to be used for explosives," said Aswin.

In addition, from the deepening of the HOK, it was known that it was a sympathizer of Daulah Islamiyah. Bahkam, the group is affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

"The person concerned has pledged allegiance. The pledge was carried out online by the person concerned using one of the social media applications, taking allegiance to the amir (leader) Daulah Islamiyah ISIS," said Aswin.

In this case, HOK was charged with Article 15 in conjunction with Article 7 and/or Article 9 of Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning Amendments to Law Number 15 of 2003 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2002 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism into Laws.
