Arema FC In The 2024 President's Cup Final, Fourth Title Ambition

Arema FC has again successfully stepped into the 2024 presidential Cup final. They will meet Borneo FC at Manahan Stadium on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 19.30 WIB.

This sixth edition final is Singo Edan's fourth peak party. In fact, in the previous three finals, Arema always came out as the champion, namely in 2017, 2019, and 2022 editions.

Arema has ambitions to defend the title as well as win the fourth trophy of the President's Cup.

"Of course, Borneo FC is not a team that can be underestimated. We are the same as before, meet Borneo FC again. Hopefully we can defend the champion," said Arema FC Manager, Wiebie Dwi Andreaspria.

Arema and Borneo have clashed twice in the presidential Cup final. In both meetings, 2017 and 2022 editions, Singo Edan always appeared as winners with a score of 5-1 and aggregate 1-0.

Arema's chances are open. However, they could not make the encounter record a reference.

Singo Edan must continue to work hard considering that Borneo has also appeared promising from the group stage to the semifinals.

"Just like Persija and Persis Solo, we cannot take the party against Borneo FC lightly. We have to work hard to win the final. Even though it is more difficult to maintain, we will try hard," said Wiebie.

Meanwhile, Arema FC coach Joel Cornelli has prepared the team well. He monitors Borneo FC's game to prepare the right strategy.

He also agreed that the meeting record could not be a reference.

"I've seen Borneo FC in several matches via TV broadcasts. Borneo FC is an extraordinary team. We respect them. We hope to play well," said Cornelli.

"So, it's very important to keep one formation, we still have a good choice on the bench."

"So, we'll just have to see later on the pitch. We need to be careful with the surprises of them."

"I'm sure, the kids can play well. However, of course within 90 minutes we will see what happens. The chances are 50:50, but we still have a chance to increase it," he said.

Arema stepped into the final after appearing unbeaten in the group stage. They packed seven points from two wins and one draw. Then, they beat Persis 2-0 in the semifinals.

Singo Edan also appeared as the most productive team in the 2024 President's Cup. So far, they have scored 10 goals and conceded two goals.
