OJK Blak-lacakan Kemala Berantas Judi Online Di Indonesia: Server Ada Di Luar Negeri

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) bluntly reveals the obstacles faced when eradicating online gambling (judol) in Indonesia. One of them is that this online gambling server is abroad.

Chief Executive of the Behavior Supervisory of Financial, Education, and Consumer Protection Business Actors of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Frederica Widyasari Dewi said the eradication of online gambling and illegal online loans was carried out through the Illegal Financial Activity Eradication Task Force (Satgas PASTI).

The woman who is familiarly called Kiki said the OJK was conducting joint patrols with the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo). Where when you get a report or find yourself an illegal online loan or online gambling, the access will be closed.

However, Kiki said that his party often finds obstacles when closing access to online gambling, namely the server is abroad.

"Similar to borrowing, judol still has problems, why do they often appear? So, once we receive the report, or we find that we are closing it right away, but sometimes they (servers) exist abroad," he said in a virtual press conference, Friday, August 2.

Another obstacle, continued Kiki, is that this gambling activity has also been legalized by many countries. According to Kiki, more and more servers facilitate these illicit activities.

"Sometimes like this in their country it's legal, like gambling in other countries, this is the challenge like that," he said.

Kiki explained that to overcome the online gambling phenomenon, the government will optimize the use of Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning Strengthening the Development of the Financial Sector (P2SK).

For your information, through the P2SK Law, it is possible for people who carry out illegal and detrimental financial activities to be fined up to Rp1 trillion, as well as 10 years in prison.

"The arrival of the P2SK Law in the financial sector Omnibus Law, it has been stated that those who carry out illegal financial activities and harm the community can be fined up to Rp1 trillion and imprisoned for up to 10 years," he said.

Kiki said the OJK also blocked websites and applications that facilitate online gambling activities. It is hoped that this strategy can eradicate online gambling in Indonesia even though it is quite difficult.

"We continue to close and we continue to investigate that these people are not easy to find, but in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Unit, which is a member of the Task Force. We must be able to execute it using this P2SK law," he said.
