Palangka Raya Police Arrest 10 Children Of Motorcycle Thieves

JAKARTA - The Palangka Raya Police, Central Kalimantan arrested 10 minors and one teenager for being involved in motor vehicle theft.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Palangka Raya Police, Kompol Ronny M Nababan, said that of the 10 children who were still students and a teenager with the initials AL (19), they have now been named suspects in the motorcycle theft case.

"They have carried out their actions in a row since early April 2024 where the perpetrators managed to steal Nine motorbikes, one of which belongs to members of the Palangka Raya Police," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 2.

Ronny said that from the hands of the suspects, investigators managed to secure seven vehicles, meanwhile the other two vehicles, namely Supra GTR and Vario, were already in a stripped condition so that they were no longer shaped.

In total there are nine vehicles that have been secured from the hiding of the suspects. Even the police had difficulty finding a number of parts of the stolen motorcycle, because they were stripped and dumped in the river.

"In addition to the secured vehicles, we also confiscated a number of parts and spare parts that were stripped by the suspects," he explained.

For his actions, the ten Children Faced by Law or ABH were detained in accordance with the provisions of Article 32 paragraph (4) of Law Number 11 of 2012 concerning the Child Justice System, for repeatedly committing motor vehicle theft.

"With the provisions of Article 32 paragraph (2) of Law Number 14 of 2012 concerning the Juvenile Justice System, children aged 14 years or more and committing a criminal act are threatened with seven years in prison," he said.
