Kominfo Implements Three Policies To Encourage Digitalization Of MSMEs

JAKARTA - The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector plays an important role in national economic growth. At the same time, the Government continues to implement various strategies to encourage the growth of the digital-based MSME sector.

Therefore, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi revealed that the Ministry of Communication and Information will implement three policies to encourage the digitization of MSMEs to open opportunities for expanding market access.

"First, we take advantage of data and technology to design efficient business strategies. Second, the development of digital skills for MSME actors. And third, using digital platforms to encourage more sustainable business growth," Budi explained in his release, quoted Friday, August 2.

Budi also mentioned where Singapore has made a policy to encourage MSMEs in the digital era, through the S-M-E Going Digital program or the Digital Leadership Program and Better Data Driver Business to train MSME players with digital skills and business strategies.

In addition, there is also the Indian government encouraging local MSMEs to participate in global manufacturing through the Make in India initiative, and the European Union which provides access to funding for MSME players, to encourage the growth of MSMEs and the national economy.

"I believe the digitization of MSMEs will increase productivity, innovation and minimize physical risks because all storage can be done in cloud or cloud-based services," he said.

Through a program initiated by the Directorate General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, namely MSME Level Up in 2024, the Minister of Communication and Information hopes that MSME actors can advance to class in terms of digital adoption.
