The Indonesian U-19 TC National Team In South Korea, Jens Raven Is Not Necessarily Participate

JAKARTA - The U-19 Indonesian national team will go to South Korea to undergo a training camp ahead of appearing at the 2024 Earth On Us Cup. However, on that agenda, Jens Ravens has yet to be confirmed to join Garuda Muda.

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the U-19 Indonesian national team squad had actually been disbanded and returned to their respective clubs after winning the 2024 AFF U-19 Cup.

The actual disbandment of the team did not last long. You see, on August 11, 2024, Garuda Muda will be reunited in Jakarta for a training camp (TC).

For this TC agenda, PSSI prioritizes players who are called up to be less minutes playing under the direction of Indra Sjafri and not being the club's core squad in the competition.

Based on these criteria, Jens Ravens is a candidate who is not too strong to be called PSSI again.

Especially if the club doesn't let go, then Ravens is prioritized to appear during the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.

"He (Jens Raven) returned to his club. From the player who was (called) to South Korea, we will try naturalization-planned players to join together," said Sumardji as Head of the National Team Agency (BTN) in a statement quoted Thursday, August 1, 2024.

"According to the direction of the PSSI General Chair (Erick Thohir) to us, BTN, to contact the players who will join the U-19 Indonesian national team to join the TC in South Korea," he said.

Furthermore, players who join League 1 club PSSI will first establish communication with the club. Communication is established so that there is no misunderstanding regarding the agenda of the U-19 Indonesian national team.

"If Indra Sjafri calls him, it all depends on the coaching team. If for example he is called by the coaching team, then we will coordinate with League 1 clubs."

"If you don't get called, it automatically means that the children will remain in their respective clubs. All return to the coaching team, the coach calls or not," he said.

"Again, it depends on the needs of the club itself. It means, if the club starts, the coach will automatically have other thoughts. The point is like that," said Sumardji.
