President Jokowi-Vice President Ma'ruf Follows Dhikr And National Prayers For The Republic Of Indonesia's Anniversary
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo as well as Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and wife Wury Ma'ruf Amin participated in the dhikr and National prayer event ahead of 79 Years of Indonesia Merdeka at the Merdeka Palace courtyard, Jakarta.
The Dhikr and the national prayer were held by the Palace as the opening of the Independence Month commemorating the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The President appeared to be wearing a white Muslim shirt and blue sarong and black cap, while the Vice President wore a white Muslim shirt, yellowish green sarong and black cap.
The President and Vice President appear to be sitting side by side. Likewise, the First Lady and Vice President's Wife who wore all-white Muslim clothes were seen sitting next to each other in women's shares.
Also attending the event were a number of ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, such as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.

The religious leaders who attended were Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar, General Chairperson of PBNU Yahya Cholil Staquf, Gus Muwafiq and KH Irfa'i Nachrowi.
The event began with singing the song Indonesia Raya, reading the holy verses of the Koran and reports from the Chairperson of the Dhikr Organizer and the National Prayer.
President Joko Widodo invited 3,163 people to attend national dhikr activities, as the first event of a series of activities in the month of independence in August 2024 and ahead of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
"The month of independence begins with dhikr and prayer. This is a routine event held every August 1," said Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of President Yusuf Permana's Secretariat.
