Indonesian Journalists Prepare For The 2024 Adinegoro Award, Great Prize Awaits

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) is again holding the 2024 Adinegoro Award, a prestigious competition that prizes a total of hundreds of millions of rupiah. This event includes five main categories and two special awards.

The General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, emphasized that Anugerah Adinegoro is the highest journalistic award in Indonesia. "The winner of the Adinegoro Award reflects the best journalistic work in the country," said Hendry Ch Bangun in Jakarta, Thursday, August 1.

This year, the 2024 Adinegoro Journalism Award is held separately from National Press Day (HPN), which is usually celebrated every February 9. The purpose of this change is to provide special attention to excellent journalistic works amidst the challenges of media disruption. "The 2024 Adinegoro Award was held separately from HPN to further revive the spirit of journalistic Adinegoro, not only for young journalists, but also for the wider community," added Hendry Ch Bangun.

The 2024 Adinegoro Journalism Award is open to all Indonesian journalists who publish their works in the Indonesian mass media from January 1 to December 31, 2024. The five categories contested are:

In addition, there are two special awards: one for the Campus Press and the other for Citizens Journalism (Citizen Journalism). Awards for campus press are held to appreciate and encourage journalistic interest among students. Meanwhile, the category of citizen journalism gives an award of Rp. 25 million for the best work uploaded on social media.

Participants are asked to submit in-depth journalistic works that meet the criteria "Investigation, Collaboration, and Innovation." This work must reflect innovative and collaborative journalistic investigations, with in-depth investigations into specific issues or topics, and take advantage of new presentation technologies or methods.

The journalistic work contested must combine the efforts of various journalists, media, and organizations to uncover complex facts that have significant social impacts. Innovation in this work can be in the form of using advanced data, interactive platforms, or storytelling techniques that increase audience understanding.

With a total prize of hundreds of millions of rupiah and prestigious recognition, the 2024 Adinegoro Journalism Award is expected to inspire journalists throughout Indonesia to produce the best journalistic works that have an impact on society.
