One Million BYD Song Plus Units Launch From The Assembly

JAKARTA - Chinese producer BYD reached a new milestone by officially launching the 1 millionth Song Plus series, from the assembly line in China as well as the first NEV SUV in China to reach the milestone.

It is known, NEV stands for New Energy Vehicle or 'New Energy Vehicle', which is a term used to describe all types of electric vehicles, from fully battery-powered electric vehicles (EVs) to hybrid cars and PHEVs. In recent years, BYD has been the number one NEV producer in the world.

Quoting Carnewschina, Thursday, August 1, it is interesting that this new energy series will only take three years since its launch which surpassed 1 million production units.

BYD Song Plus, originally introduced in 2020 which filled the compact SUV segment and in China this model was positioned under BYD Tang.

Initially, the vehicle was only available with an internal combustion engine, then in 2021 the Plug in Hybrid version known as Song Plus DM-i and a pure electric version will go on sale. Furthermore, in 2022 the gasoline-fueled Song Plus will be stopped, following the company's commitment to focus on new energy vehicles.

Furthermore, in 2024, more precisely July 25, the brand that has been present in Indonesia launched the Song Plus DM-i 2025 which displays the fifth generation DM powertrain technology from BYD. Externally, there is a slight difference between the new version and last year's version. However, with the new powertrain, this vehicle can cover a combined distance of up to 1,500 km using only 3.9 liters of fuel per 100 km. This is compared to the previous generation of Song Plus with DM 4.0 power train which has 4.5 liters/100 km of fuel consumption and a combined range of 1200 km, marking a 25 percent increase in range.

The refreshers also include batteries now equipped with Blade Battery 18.3 kWh and 26.6 kWh, while the dimensions are unchanged, they still have a length of 4,775 mm, a width of 1,890 mm and a height of 1,670 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm.

The model one has also been introduced in various countries, especially Europe in 2023, then the company will launch hybrid models in Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines this year.

Speaking of BYD in Indonesia, this company already has four electric car lines, the latest launching BYD M6 an MPV which became the center of attention after officially launching at the GIIAS 2024 exhibition.
